We have not tested deploying ubuntu nodes from a rhel mgmt node. At the very
least, you need to build your stateless image on an ubuntu node (not the rhel
mgmt node), following
https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_iDataPlex_Cluster_Quick_Start#Building_an_Image_for_a_Different_OS_or_Architecture
.
But even after doing that i can't guarantee you won't run into other problems.

How do you create the stateless image of Ubuntu 12.04.02 using the RHEL6.2
Management server.
I have presented the /install folder from Management server to a VM running
Ubuntu 12.04.02 I have copied netboot/Ubuntu folder on to the vm.
When I run genimage command I am getting the following error ?apt invocation

Hello,
When I change netboot to pxe, i can boot esxi5.1 successfully. But I still have
two questions:
1) what reason when I used xnba, it will loop infinite to install?
2) when installation has been successfully, if definition update in lsdef, as
below information from that environment, status still get at installing.
is it working as design?
lsdef esxi5host:

Hello,
When I tried to install esxi4.1 and 5.1 with xcat 2.8.1. I met following issue.
It can be booted and successfully installed, and reboot, but pxe will install
esxi server again...
lsdef esxihost (which esxihost is my esxi node information):
Object name: esxihost
arch=x86_64
bmc=9.115.235.135
bmcpassword=PASSW0RD
bmcport=1
bmcusername=USERID

--- xcat/esxi4.1/x86_64/base/m od.tgz
kernel=xcat/esxi4.1/x86_64/base/mboot.c32
mac=6C:AE:8B:60:FE:03
mgt=ipmi
netboot=xnba
nfsserver=192.168.1.2
os=esxi4.1

Any idea to solve that issue? And how to debug if there has such issue, when I
enable SOL, it cannot work for esxi installation, no output to SOL session.
Another question is, when I used esxi5.1 to install, it still use legacy CSM
PXE, not the UEFI pxe.
Thanks,
yixuan

Finally, I got esxi5 to work now, both for pxe and xnba. But not for esxi4.1,
it will fail to send result to xcatd. I comment reboot in auto install script,
to see what happen on esxi host.
Here is the /tmp/foo.log:
connect: network is unreachable
connect: errno=22
When i try to ping that node, cannot ping.
>From esxcfg-vmnic -l result, there has no IP present for vmnic1 which

connect to network. However, when installation start before, I can ssh into
that esxi host.
When I tried to use netboot as pxe, when in pxe boot stage, it will be prompt
message like: xcat/esxi4.1/x86_64/base/mboot.c32: not a COM32R image.
In a word, for xnba, xcat cannot be retrieved signal from node, something is
wrong for network configuration; for pxe, will be failed at pxe boot.
Any idea to help solve those issue?
Thanks,
yixuan
