What level of xCAT. I might look at what is on this line:
Can't use an undefined value as a symbol reference
at /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/Client.pm line 228.

Lissa,

I was about to write you the scenario that is not working for me (running
commands from the SN, on the MN it worked fine) but for some reason now its
working :) i have no idea why (i haven't touch the machines since i wrote
the mail) but i prefer to be on that side of not knowing why... :)

And yes, i followed this link, of course.

thx a lot!

Did you follow these instructions
https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=Granting_Users_xCAT_privileges

Using xCAT commands as a non-root user id, requires more setup than ssh.
The setup is outlined in the above documentation. This is true even
non-hierarchically. because when you run the xCAT commands you are actually
running as root in our xcatd daemon; although you authenticate in as the
non-root userid.
You should test you setup with xdsh, it will show whether you can run xcat
commands.

Hello,

I'm trying to set user privileges (for lsfadmin to run all xCAT commands)
in my hierarchical small cluster. i can do it with no issues on the xcat
master node, but for the service nodes i get the following message -

lsfadmin@xcatmn:~> rpower idp stat
idp2: on
idp1: on
lsfadmin@xcatmn:~> ssh sn2
Last login: Sun Aug 11 15:12:09 2013 from xcatmn
lsfadmin@sn2:~> rpower idp2
Can't use an undefined value as a symbol reference
at /opt/xcat/lib/perl/xCAT/Client.pm line 228.

passwordless ssh works both ways.

Any ideas?

thx in advance!
