The setup is outlined in the above documentation. This is true even non-hierarchically. because when you run the xCAT commands you are actually running as root in our xcatd daemon; although you authenticate in as the non-root userid. You should test you setup with xdsh, it will show whether you can run xcat commands. Lissa K.
