What I didn’t realize is that 1) imgcapture -t sysclone creates a disk boot 
install image from a disk installed system, 
and so the imgcapture -t diskless is closer to what I want. What was also not 
mentioned on the wiki web page was that 2) the Golden Client
needs to be a diskful install, which I had not done.  Someone at ORNL was 
working on making it work diskless to diskless, but I couldn’t find
the modified version anywhere. 
Meanwhile, I have scrounged up an old SATA drive and plan to redo the install 
tomorrow.
I hope it goes better.
