Dear Sir,
I want to congratulate you on the recent improvements ,particularly selective
download of large messages . XCmail 2.2 is truly a front-line e-mail client for
Linux now.It is light and very quick and has most of the features one
needs. The automatic address book is really cool.
Some comments/questions which you may like to consider for future
releases. You can also send me a reply if you have the time.
1)Does the client have to scan all messages on a POP3 server every time there
is new mail or a particular big message is marked for download.Makes it very
slow.I like keeping messages on my server as I access it from home and office and the messages on my server get deleted automatically at the end of a month.
Well, this is standard procedure of most (all) POP3 clients but others don't show if they are working.
2)I can not find the UIDL option mentioned in the Manual. Has it been removed?
UIDL is now enabled by default and can not be disabled - maybe the manual has to be changed ;-)
3) Can the messages be saved as drafts? How about a warning to save before aborting an unsaved draft?
No, not yet.
4) Can the messages be pulled back from the spool and edited again? At least can one view them?
Not yet - you can view the with vi of course. However, implementing viewing might not be a problem but if I start with this all people will ask for editing.
3) Any plans to introduce IMAP4 support in the future?
There were plans. But all answers in the survey told me that there is no need for IMAP. I myself would like to have IMAP but this is a really big thing to do and I don't have the time for this.
