My OS X 10.10.5 system just automatically downloaded and installed Xcode 7.0.1 (which blew away my Xcode 6.4 installation without even a mention). The problem I'm having is that the only base SDKs that Xcode 7.0.1 allows me to choose is OS X 10.11 or iOS 9.0, neither of which I have.
