Hi all,

Thoughts re Marks reply.

What? Triadis chose to supply their equipement with XCSoar. If I bought a HP
device I would expect HP to support the *supplied* operational software,
irrespective of whether it is propritery or open source.

If Triadis dislike open source they should not have used it. One suspects
basing the Altair on XCSoar brought considerable ongoing savings in terms of
software development costs for Triadis.

Why should the developers be supporting Triadis for profit operations? They are
not a non profit are they? At least one expects a device to support its own
logger.

As the .au supplier you should take some responsibilty for its currency, as is
standard in the industry.

Triadis as I said above would have saved considerably on software devlopment
and as suppliers
will benefit from better software available. 150 Alatirs sell for nearly 1/2
million dollars.
I presume you make a profit on Altair sales?

As Triadis suppied the essentiual operating software with the device, I would
expect them to support it, just like any other manufaturer. Being open source
is irrelevant, and at best a poor excuse.

150 alta...@$3000 sell for nearly 1/2 million dollars. Not my definition of
free by any means.
