Don't be put off by my comments about replacing the Li battery: I
haven't had to do it myself but some club mates have and they say its
not hard to do.

BTW, I only know about the Li battery because I bought a GPS II+ which
came from a batch which had duff Li cells - mine started to complain
about 'low internal battery' when it as 13 months old - just out of
guarantee but I rang Garmin anyway, who explained that although the GPS
only had a 1 year guarantee the Li cell had a 10 year guarantee, so I
should send mine back for a new battery. In point of fact I now have
two: one was fitted in the panel until I swapped it for a PNA running
XCSoar and the second is mounted with the EW(D) on the battery box lid
to tell the EW(D) where it is. Neither have needed the Li battery
replaced, but then again I always have a set of good AA cells in them.
