Hi
I used XCsoar in a glider on Monday for the first time on a Wayteq 950BT
connected to a Colibri using a serial converter
Firstly, I was very disapointed with the Wayteq Screen. It was worse then my
Ipaq 3850 (running SeeYou). Indoors the Wayteq appears brighter but in
Sunlight the Ipaq is better. I guess that the Wayteq does not have a TFT
screen. Now looking for alternative device
I would like to suggest improvements that might make the Wayteq more
useable.
Of course I have Terrain off to improve contrast. I only want to see things
like major roads, rivers, lakes, towns etc. (I would like to see higher
ground but I also want the screen to be mainly white. if you can solve that
you are geniuses)
thicker airspace, topography lines. Screen resolutions are going up and so
lines on the screen are getting thinner
option to turn airspace border shading off. this is just a PITA
menu buttons (eg Config) nead bigger text. Use less text if necessary. It is
very small and difficult to read
get rid of units, unneaded accuracy (eg decimals), feet (unless chosen) and
other crap in NavBoxes. (Why does it say McReady... when MC would be fine)
make NavBoxes smaller. wasting screen real estate
make info in NavBoxes bigger. it could be even bigger
Pilots are getting older with poorer eyesight and need all the help they can
get. They should be squinting at the PDA as little as possible and looking
out instead
