XCSoar supports custom NMEA strings. If you programmed the IOIO to use the GPIO 
(it has lots) as buttons, you could easily do that. You could also code it more 
generically in XCSoar - I don't think it  exists, but would not be hard to do. 
E.g. create a set of pseudo events like "IOIOGPIO01..n". Once that is done, 
then it is easy to assign those events to any function, just by writing an XCI 
(XCSoar Input file). I have 4 buttons on my stick, that go through the Vega, 
using flap inputs (I don't have any flaps on my Cobra), and use XCI to turn 
those into "Next waypoint", "Drop marker", "AUX Screen / Default screen switch"
