OK, good, thanks.
Suggest to add something like this to the manual. Please check the list of
sentence classes: I do not know what exactly they should be.

In en/ch08_avionics_and_airframe.tex, "Multiple devices" section, insert:

\label{avionics:multdevice}
XCSoar also supports chains of devices, such as a FLARM feeding GPS data to an
intelligent vario, and the vario providing aggregated GPS, FLARM, air speed and
vertical speeds to XCSoar. In such a configuration, you should select the
driver for the device providing other data, such as air data.
The data sentences understood from each device/driver combination vary; classes
of actual data received are displayed along with each device in the Device
screen. Certain core sentences (GPS, FLARM) are understood by all drivers,
while others are only provided by specific drivers (Air Data).
See section~\ref{conf:comdevices} for details on device setup.

And in en/ch11_configuration.tex, \section{Setup / Devices}, append:

See section~\ref{avionics:multdevice} for information about multiple devices.

The first driver could pass on data it does recognize to the other driver if
that driver supports reading from such a virtual device.
I'd say the existing solution should work for my case.
