I haven't had those issues with the N7 2013. You may want to change the
settings for thermaling to "north up" (or another static setting) so that
the map doesn't need to continuous redraw itself. I recently started using
the Nexus 5 phone, which has a barometer. I've used it on a couple of
simulator flights but not yet in RL. The 5" screen with an anti-glare
screen protector looks very promising.
