I think this is the wrong place to make your case. XDG exists for the
promulgation of interoperability standards, but the level of grammatical
detail you're talking about has no impact on cross-desktop
interoperability. XDG has no power to force standards on downstream
organizations like KDE and GNOME to override decisions of "no, we're not
interested in changing this" that you might receive there.
If you do receive that answer there, well, that's life I'm afraid. We
don't always get everything we want.
