An update
After downloading the source for XDoclet 1.2b3, I found out that the source
requires xjavadoc.1.0.jar. So I downloaded that one and installed in the
XDoclet lib dir. Now, I can let ant run on the example.
Maven is still a problem. I get

P.S. Sorry for the tone. I've been struggling for 2 days now to get Maven +
XDoclet to work (on the sample), hopping from one problem to the other.
