Howdy Andy, >The archives should stay as they are so that users >always have access to old versions.
But if the Xerces 1.4.4 binaries are moved to the oldXerces1 directory, users still have as much access to them as ever--and yet it's made clear that, in the grand scheme of "current" parser versions, these do not have the same status as the Xerces 2 stuff. They really are old. >However, I would suggest the following: > 1) Rename xerces-j/ directory to xerces1-j so > that it stays in line with our xerces2-j > naming convention; and > 2) Add symbolic link for xerces2-j with the > name xerces-j. I have no problem with these changes (in fact, I'll make 'em if folks want and I have the requisite privs). But I would like to hear from others first, especially since this would require some changes to the main xml.apache.org homepage--the Xerces1 link would need to be altered for one.
