Yes, we did post the original note to the xerces-j-user list. The response
wasn't quite silence: I had two responses sent to me privately; one a
request for info on pull parsing, the other from a user who has
definite--and not positive--views about the API. He has recorded his views
on a weblog, and since that's open to the public, I can't imagine why he
wouldn't want me to share the URL with folks; so I'll take the liberty of
