X11 is no longer supplied with Mountain Lion while your previous OS did have 
X11. There are actually two versions of gs installed by MacTeX; one that uses 
X11 and one that doesn't. You have two choices to fix your problem:

1)You can install XQuartz as a replacement, 
<http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/>, in which case things will go back to 
normal;

2)or you can install FixMacTeX2012.pkg (i.e., double click the pkg file and 
follow the instructions) which will make the gs link point to the non-X11 
version of gs. You can find FixMacTeX2012.pkg in /Applications/TeX.
