I just wanted to say my mouse is capable of 800cpi. But on reboot the mouse is reset to 400cpi. That means the resolution has to be set to 800cpi on each single reboot. What is the best way to do this?
Or: Why is the default value 400 and not 800cpi? Is there a way to change it?
Since XFree86 isn't capable of setting the M-BJ58 mouse's resolution (which is why you are using that 3rd-party program), there's no place in XFree86 to set the default resolution. You probably also can't set it in the hardware itself, since most mice don't have persistent memory. So you probably have to reset the mouse's resolution with logitech-resolution each time you reboot the computer.

You might be able to edit the /etc/hotplug scripts to run the logitech-resolution command each time it detects the usb mouse in the computer. Or you could add that command to a ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xsession and tell your login manager to run your .xsession or .xinitrc so that those scripts get run.
