Dear Egbert, Thank you for your reply. I did just as you said, and now I am able to run X. However, there are still some problems. In the desktop icons I cannot see the filenames. Also in the file manager, all filenames are empty. I thought it was something to do with the fonts, so I also installed all the font-related tarballs for XFree, but I still can't see the filenames. Is this a XFree problem?
I also can't login using NIS user accounts, but I guess you cannot help me with that. Thank you again for your big big help. Hope you can help me with the font problem too.
