On the contrary, xfs is up and running. The problem begins when I execute "startx", then xfs crashes. The X font Server was somehow corrupted by the hard shutdown. I have implemented a band-aid fix. I included the line "FontPath /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc" in my XF86 Config file, X now starts normally with "startx" and I can print. This, however, does not correct the fundamental problem created by the power cut.
