Brian, I personally agree with you that CLEAN should do *just* that. i.e. CLEAN. OTOH I can understand the natural question, "and then what?", i.e what would be the purpose of a CLEAN if not to build it later?
My vote would be for CLEAN to do just that, simply because I prefer self documenting syntax.
