Correct setting for a mail-domain on DNS:

(correct_maildomain.com)
correct_maildomain.com MX [10]
mailhost.correct_maildomain.com.
mailhost A xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa

(zzz.yyy.xxx.in-addr.arpa)
xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa PTR
mailhost.correct_maildomain.com.

so if mail has to be sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
a) MX is looked up -> message is to be sent to
mailhost.correct_maildomain.com
b) IP is looked up -> IP for mailhost.correct_maildomain.com =
xxx.yyy.zzz

c) the PTR record is used to reverse lookup when sending

Check with DNS-queries if your ISP's settings are correct.

Good luck,
Frederik Gallon

No.
MX is a Mail Exchanger record. It points out the IP-address of your
mailserver to sending SMTP servers.
The A record is also called a host record and is used by most other services
but SMTP.
