First, I just found this software last night after deciding against buying Exchange and bogging down my system with a bunch of bloat-ware. Thanks a lot to Davide, and also to the other contributors for a terrific piece of open source software! Thanks to the doc, simplified installation instructions at halfdone.com and a few of the utilities that have been posted, I was able to get XMail configured and running in about an hour. I ran into one difficulty that I haven't been able to correct, and my searches have come up empty.
I'm running Win2K SP4 (with IIS running). XMail runs fine during testing via the "XMail Console Startup.cmd" batch file, but to run it in production, I am unable to start the service. When I try to start the service (I am not running XMail via the batch file anymore) the error that I receive says "Could not start the XMail Service service on the Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." I get two System Log errors in the Event Viewer during this failure. The first is "Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the XMail Service service to connect. ", and the second is "The XMail Service service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." There is definitely not a pause of 30 seconds before the service fails to start - it's about a second or less. If anyone can assist me in resolving this problem, I would be very grateful. Thanks again for an awesome product! --Joe - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe xmail" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] For general help: send the line "help" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
