by default, XMail service is running under "Local System" account. This is special account, which (to say simply) has local system administrator privileges, but can not access network resources. You can run whole XMail under some other user account, having necessary permissions. Generally, I do not recommend that, because it is a security risk, as is the whole procedure. -- Michal A.
