xmail gives error "501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments: (-31)"
xmail accepts only the following form:

I don't know what the standard says, but I wouldn't be surpized if it's
MS guilt.
BTW, does xmail not have a debugging log where all
commands exchanged with the other side get recorded,
ie. something like this:
