Strange line on the screen in svgalib version

Does anyone else get a horizontal line (actually it's more like a
missing line since it's black) in the middle of your screen if you
run the svgalib version from a console prompt (non x-windows).  I'm
using Mandrake 7.1 and it just seems odd.
