Actually, you don't have to wait if you don't mind a bit of work... Last
night I managed to get xmame 0.57 up and running from xmame 0.56.2 and the
mame 0.57 sources by following the instructions in
contrib/porting/porting.txt . Though there were a few surprises where it
wouldn't compile without changes to some of the source files, they weren't
that hard to fix (or at least work around - not sure if what I did was
entirely correct).

If anyone's interested, I could send a patch against xmame 0.56.2... though
I'd need to know what arguments to pass to diff - I'm a newbie when it comes
to patches. Of course, by the time I make a patch, Lawrence will probably
have made the release, so it might just be a waste of time...

Maybe mame.dk would be interested in these roms as well. I'm sure they'd love
to reduce their bandwidth usage by having smaller roms.
