Thanks to theGREENzebra, I have tried the svgafx target since, and yes, it does work
on a voodoo1 with glide 2.46
I have been doing some testing since, and it seems that Glide support in Mandrake
is a little broken, at least for voodoo3. Debian seems ok for voodoo1.
in the following table, NO stands for not working either with Debian nor Mandrake
and YES stands for it has worked with at least one distrib.

>From what I have found, glide 2.60 has some broken PCI detection code : all
requests to "access PCI bus" ends with "FXFalse" ... I would say that something
in the kernel has changed since Dec 2000 (last glide release) that breaks Glide.
I am not sure why the svgafx works though.
