keep in mind the ns558 is a specific game port.

if you look in your kernel documentation you'll find quite a bit of
information on how to get joysticks working. it's comprehensive.

i know in newer kernels they changed some of the modules around, so i
*highly* recommend looking at the kernel docs and the help options
inside menuconfig.
