that doesn't do the job... 'cause all the text is redirected
to the svga output, so you can't do a 

xmame -listallthesupportedgames > game-list.txt

(ok that isn't a real option...)

maybe outputing to standard error instead of stdout might
get around that problem... (but would cause others i'm sure)
