I have made listings of all of the files on the CDs (I did a 'find . -type f -print' sort of thing) and I can grep them to see what's where - however, it still means that I have to get up and go and get the CD myself, take it out of its case, put it in the drive - and I keep my CDs in a heavy wooden case with a nasty snapping door that I keep catching my fingers in. I could always get a CD changer. Seriously, with the price of large hard drives being so low, having your main MAME roms off the HD doesn't make a lot of sense. However, for me, getting a new hard drive at the moment is not a priority - I need to pay the bills first. Rick, I don't know which site you're referring to, but with the transient nature of rom distribution, sites disappear and reappear all the time. I'm still mourning the loss of roms from mame.dk.. sigh. I get my roms from alt.binaries.games.misc/mame and wherever else I can leech 'em from.
