Hey eveyone,
I was just playing with effect and settings in stuff with gxmame and I
noticed that Xv would not honor the geometry setting to set the
resolution.
This is the command line gxmame produces:

 /usr/games/xmame.x11 -rompath /mnt/hd/roms/mame -samplepath
/usr/lib/games/xmame/samples/ -artwork_directory /home/xmame-files/art/
-snapshot_directory /usr/lib/games/xmame/snap/ -hiscore_directory
~/.xmame/hi/ -cheat_file /home/xmame-files/cheat.dat -hiscore_file
/usr/lib/games/xmame/hiscore.dat -history_file
/home/xmame-files/history.dat -mameinfo_file
/home/xmame-files/mameinfo.dat -diff_directory ~/.xmame/diff/
-ctrlr_directory /usr/lib/games/xmame/ctrlr/ -inipath ~/.xmame/ini/
-nvram_directory ~/.xmame/nvram/ -memcard_directory ~/.xmame/memcard/
-input_directory ~/.xmame/inp/ -state_directory ~/.xmame/sta/ -bpp 0
-arbheight 0 -heightscale 1 -widthscale 1 -effect 2 -noautodouble
-noscanlines -frameskipper 1 -throttle -nosleepidle -autoframeskip
-maxautoframeskip 8 -frameskip 0 -brightness 100 -gamma-correction
1.000000 -sound -samples -samplefreq 22050 -bufsize 3.000000
-volume -3 -audiodevice /dev/dsp -mixerdevice /dev/mixer
-dsp-plugin alsa -sound-mixer-plugin oss -x11-mode 0 -cursor -mitshm
-xvext -fullscreen -geometry 640x480 -noyuv -noyv12 -xsync
-noprivatecmap -noxil -nomtxil -keepaspect -displayaspectratio
1.330000 -joytype 4 -noanalogstick -joydevname /dev/input/js -nomouse
-nohotrod -nohotrodse -nousbpspad -norapidfire -nograbmouse
-nowinkeys -nograbkeyboard -artwork -use_backdrops -use_overlays
-nouse_bezels -noartwork_crop -artwork_resolution 2 -cfg_directory
~/.xmame/cfg/ bublbobl -noloadconfig

add you can see geometry is set for 640x480.
Running this in a terminal has the same effect (stays in the current
videomode and scales XV to that size)

Running a less complex xmame invocation:
 xmame.x11 -xv -geometry 640x480 -fullscreen -rp /mnt/hd/roms/mame
bublbobl

set the videomode to 640x480 then uses xv.

Any ideas? I'm going to try running the longer invocation above removing
element by element until I get it working, but it could be a combo... so
I thought I'd post it here too.

Ste
