Ooops, my bad.

Should have been rpmbuild --rebuild xmame*.src.rpm

Sorry about that. The morning coffee still hasn't kicked in.

Hello. I am a xmame newbie and this is my first time to compile xmame
(v0.71.1). This is not easy as I thought. I can't use RPM because I am
still using Red Hat Linux 7.2 (compiled Kernel v2.4.20), and I didn't see
any latest xmame for my version.

Your best bet is to get the xmame source rpm from Matthias Saou's excellent freshrpms.net site. Get it and hit it with a rpmbuild -ba xmame*.src.rpm.

I downloaded http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/redhat/9/xmame/xmame-0.70.1-fr1.i386.rpm
and tried your suggestion:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] download]# rpm -ba xmame-0.70.1-fr1.src.rpm error: File /home/ant/download/xmame-0.70.1-fr1.src.rpm does not appear to be a specfile.
