Ok, I think I have found part of the problem. If I comment out X_INPUT_DEVICES = 1 in the
makefile, then the trigger action starts working again.

If all else fails, I'll just change it so that it registers them as
mouse clicks again and make sure there are enough mouse devices
allocated in case there are multiple guns.
