I tend to agree with Scott Schulman. The technology will not drive the business, the business will drive the technology. We are currently serving the nations largest retailers, and they are quite pleased to be able to utilize their legacy EDI systems and still avail themselves to the internet. Though we are able to do so, none of them has requested an XML solution for their interface. They tend to prefer that we utilize XML for their lower tier trading partners and provide them with traditional EDI.

Seems like the move to the virtual enterprise driven by
XML may well alter alot of these metrics and put
pressure on larger consultancies to deliver real value,
or face be passed over.
