Some of you may have seen this.
It's of interest that Oracle are attempting to head out the gate before
anything definitive is even on the horizon.
Just another reinforcement of the fact that any vendor Schema stuff
right now is grossly premature - as Microsoft have found with XDR.
There's much work to be done on the ebXML front in re-visiting
the Schema Requirements to ensure that any REAL schema
standards FULLY support the critical needs of B2B and EDI and
ebXML interactions.
These factors were not in the original W3C schema spec's.
Expect to see some repositioning here to ensure that vendors
are not left with a still-born implementation on their hands as
Oracle are clearly thinking - just from the tone of their press release!
Begs the question - OK - now what?
I'm looking forward to a RECOMMENDATION on XLINK being out
shortly from the W3C.
This is MUCH more critical right now than any Schema stuff - which
clearly falls into the category of 'more work needed'.
Here's hoping that Easter Bunny is listening....
