in reply to Hussein Shafie: >> Java[tm] Web Start means: web-based automated install and upgrade; >> no less, no more. If I may jump in here, I would be confused by the term too. Nor am I terribly enlightened by the first two pages google brings up when I search for Java Web Start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_Web_Start http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/javawebstart/index.jsp The Wikipedia article in particular seems misleading, if JWS is about installation and upgrade. The first para of the Wikipedia article says: In computing, Java Web Start ... allows users to start application software for the Java Platform directly from the Internet using a web browser. The Sun article is a little clearer: Using Java Web Start technology, standalone Java software applications can be deployed with a single click over the network. --but nowhere near as clear as your description, Hussein. I realize of course that you folks at XMLMind are not in control of either Sun or the Wikipedia. Since at least the Wikipedia description (and the name itself) are, in my opinion, misleading, maybe it would be wise if XMLMind used your own descriptive term, like "web-based installation and upgrade" (or "web-based installation and upgrade using Java's Web Start Technology")? Just a suggestion... -- Mike Maxwell What good is a universe without somebody around to look at it? --Robert Dicke, Princeton physicist
