Do you plan to have a customizable look like Foobar2k?  That's pretty
complex, but also a great strength of Foobar2k over, well, all other
music players.

By separating mlib/playlist in tabs, you make them exclusive, which
might be annoying if you want to use what you find by
browsing/searching in the mlib to drag and drop into the playlist. One
solution is to have parallel views, though it makes the client larger.

I think you should have a look at the collection API for the medialib
view, in particular the xmmsc_coll_parse function if you want to have
a search field, and xmmsc_coll_* in general too in fact.

General question: do you have particular ideas that you want to see in
your client, which for instance would not be compatible with existing
clients such as Insanity?
