This isn't a simple refactor; the semantics of the new function are different from the replaced code. I'd love to see a separate patch which changed the semantics and described why that was necessary before a refactor patch, so that we can compare the two versions in place. Failing that, a description of the complete change would be useful in evaluating this patch. -- -keith
