Yes, and they are huge. But you say the monitor is fixed frequency, so
something must be wrong.

In particular, I suspect the server doesn't use your custom mode but a default
one with higher resfresh rate, which your monitor doesn't grok. To prevent
that either adjust Section "Monitor" to reflect your monitor's abilities
accurately or name your custom mode differently so the server can't choose
another mode.


PS: This is an educated guess, no more but no less either. :)
