using localhost on a ppc mac doesn't work - this is a known
limitation. You can run in parallel if you specify the hostname (not
localhost), and you can ssh (or rsh) to the machine without a password. 

Also, I suspect you'll be happier if you have more than 4 (probably at
least 20) cores for the PASD calculation.
