Hi all,

I'm currently running windows on my laptop, with either a local
VirtualBox Solaris session, or a VNC client connected to another machine
for my Solaris work.

I've been contemplating switching to running Solaris on the laptop, and
possibly (if needed) running windows in VB.

I've run the driver checker tool, and all the HW checks out. There's
just one thing I want to understand about Solaris on X86 and Xwindows...

Right now at the office I use both a monitor, and the laptop LCD screen,
with the monitor plugged into the docking station. The docking station
also has another port that I can connect another monitor to if I;d like.

I've run multi head Solaris SPARC desktops before, and I know how to
configure them so that's not an issue.

My question is how will Solaris/Xorg deal with docking and undocking
from the docking station?? Windows handles it fine, moving from single
head to multihead and back again. I don't need to be able to dock with
the laptop on (Windows is supposed to be able to do this, but I have
problems if I don't at least hibernate before switching.) Hibernating or
shutting down even would be acceptable.

I'm just wondering if it's possible to have a single Xorg config file
that will handle both situations? I'd hate to have to login at the text
console, copy in a saved config, and then restart a service or reboot
the machine.

Anyone doing this?
