It wasn't dropped as much as simply not added to the to-do list that's already
much longer than we can get to in the next few years. No one has thought
enough about it to decide it's useful to do, or proved one way or another if
it really is.
But then, this is OpenSolaris - all the code involved is open source - and I
know you even worked a bit on porting it to X.Org last year. It doesn't take
someone inside Sun to find out whether or not this is worthwhile.
