Hi Mario, Alan,

the swapped german keys issue should be fixed in next build
snv_101a/OpenSolaris RC1 .. The fix was already integrated ..

As a background for this, g11n team made some changes as part of our
xserver keyboard layouts strategy which has two phases.

First one is to separate "SUN" and "Community" standards. So full set of
layouts was created under "/usr/X11/lib/X11/xkb/symbols/sun/". If you
set up in your xorg.conf keyboard type as "Sun Type *" layouts from
../symbols/sun dir will be used. For other types of keyboards layouts
from ../symbols are used.

Phase two is to sync keyboard layouts with latest community stuff, this
should give us many new layouts and up to date maps, while we will still
be able to keep SUN standards untouched, which is important as far as we
ship Sun Type hardware keyboard to customers.

The work on phase 1 is done now, we are sorry for issue with german
layout. It was cause by migration of lot of data. Now we can work on
phase 2 and hopefully we will have a lot of new layouts and variants soon.

Beside that g11n team is also working on enhancements for IIIM
framework. If everything goes well there will be GUI tool to customize
keyboard layout used by IIIMF in OpenSolaris 2009.04 so every user can
very easily modify the layout to individual needs.

Thanks & Regards,
Petr H.
