Ooops - should have checked before I went assuming stuff. Well on the face of it, it would appear from that FAQ entry that it would be OK to combine Xorg SPARC drivers directly into Nevada, as far as the legality of that combination of code goes.
What I am after for my own system is: 1. Sun to switch to Xorg on SPARC (so XRender works) for some future Nevada build. 2. An Xorg driver to support the ATI Rago Pro Turbo chip on the Ultra 10. 3. An easy way of getting the driver to run on Sun's "Xorg on SPARC". For example, copying the driver to some suitable location on the system, and writing a few lines in xorg.conf . If these drivers were able to be integrated into Nevada then this would be a bonus. I can't see Sun doing this on their own though, and if the right folk at Sun aren't interested in having "outsiders" help to integrate the drivers then it will never happen, which would be a shame.
