I actually had 1680x1050 resolutioin on DELL Latitude D800 until reboot -- -r.  
I wasn't sure if  Nvidia problem related to GeForceFX 5200...apparently it 
does.  An out of 'sync' boot archive and corrupted 'path_to_inst' was the 
result.  The resolution looked SO GOOD...had to try it again...and corrupted 
'path_to_inst' again on fresh install.  (I can wait....)
