Does anyone know if the openwin sdtperfmeter application contains encumbered sources, or if the sources are available?
My guess is that the client portion probably is, but the server part probably isn't. The gnome meter takes up too much visible space and too much in the way of resources to be useful and AFAIK doesn't support remote monitoring. Perfmeter is the one old CDE application that I would miss the most. I'd be quite happy to take a shot at porting it if the sources are available and if it is realistically possible to do so. If not, I guess the time has come to write a replacement for the gnome meter which is rather unusable unless you have a multi core processor with a lot of RAM and a lot of screen real estate to use up...
