 Interesting. I never had this with three or four versions of FF4.  And with 
FF5 it only happens to me with Add-ons menu. I tried the min/maximize trick but 
it didn't work for me. I have to shut down the browser and immediately go to 
the Add-ons menu to get it to work. And you might be right if you leave the 
browser idle for a bite the problem occurs. A very weird problem.
