Is there a way to correct this? Should I go back the an earlier driver
where there was no problem?

Does "earlier driver" mean the 280.13 driver bundled in Solaris 11
or some other version you downloaded from nvidia.com?

The "earlier driver" means 290.06, which ran without any errors.

The failure happens due to some missing code in the
drivers at nvidia.com but in the bundled drivers.
However, I verified this code is missing in both 290.06
and 295.09. Are you certain the vbiosd error wasn't
there with 290.06 from nvidia.com?

I will try to get the code into the next release driver
from nvidia.com.
