In this case, I thought that the guy has anyway to be a member of "yade-users"
to get the answers to his question (in his emails like me). In fact, I just
realized that it is certainly possible just browsing the Launchpad interface
web pages...

I can see the point now, thanks.

Hi Jerome,

imagine you are a new Yade user, testing it and deciding if you will use it or
not, and want to ask just some basic question, and for it you have to register
somewhere, waiting (possibly a few days) for approval and only after that you
can ask.. It would annoy me :-) every while there is a question from people I
have never heard before and I think it would be pitty to make it hard just
because of one spammer..

If you mark a question as a spam, it is not displayed in any list by default.
If you get yade-users emails, containing all the questions, a few spams is no
problem from my point of view, as large amount of questions is completely out
of my interest, ability to answer, knowledge of code, knowledge of physics etc
etc..

Of course, we should have the possibility to ban a user if that account send
spams (like "thomas" recently)

cheers
Jan

Hi,

What kind of issues do you have in mind if we restrict to yade-users members
the possibility of asking questions ?

Jerome

Hi there,
I totally agree with Bruno. Moving to github is not a good idea in my opinion
for the same reason Anton gave, at least if we can manage this in an other way.
Unfortunately I dont have a constructive idea how to handle it.

I don't know how launchpad handles spammers, can we ban some accounts on the
mailing lists we are managing?
I don't think restricting posting rights of everyone but team members is the
right way to solve the problem. It has to remain open access IMO.

Hi Jerome,

thanks for raising this question. For both groups we
have several administrators, including me, Bruno, Jan and
I have added you also as admin. If there are also some
more proposals, let`s implement them.

If Launchpad will be too painful, we can move most of stuff
to GitHub. I would like to escape it, because we have thousands
of messages on LP, but if it will work too bad... Let`s see.

Best regards

Anton
