*Farewell to a Red Rose that grew from the Working Class Slums – Cde
Nontsikelelo Sandi*

*Wednesday 29 October 2008*

The Young Communist League in the Northern Cape has learned with sadness on
the death its own member Cde Nontsikelelo Sandi, who passed away last
Thursday 23 October 2008.

Comrade Sandi passed away after a short illness as a result of the
imperatives of nature.

The YCL pays tribute to this red rose that grew from the working class slums
of the Kuyasa Township in the Northern Cape. She is a red rose that defied
nature by taking a human form in the struggle of building a better Socialist
South Africa. Her untimely departure robs the YCL and the youth movement of
her valuable contribution in the struggles and hardships faced by the
working class and the poor youth.

Comrade Sandi dedicated her life and service to the YCL and the SACP
informed by the barbaric social ills permeating our country from the legacy
of colonialism of a special type and the exploitative capitalist system. Her
Marxist – Leninist consciousness and leadership took us all closer to the
ultimate liberation of our people from the yoke of class oppression.

We send our sincere and profound condolences to her family, her friends, and
the progressive youth movement.

As the YCL and the youth in general we commit ourselves to the ideals and
principles that made our rose to identify with the sufferings of humanity,
as we advance to the centenary in 2017 of the October Bolshevik revolution.
Indeed in 2017, South Africa will not be the same; it will instead be a
Socialist Republic thanks to the vanguard party of the working class, the
South African Communist Party [SACP].

*Long live the rose that grew from the working class slums!*
